A Beginner’s Guide to Your First Diving Trip

Diving for the first time can be both exciting and nerve-wracking. Here's what you can expect and what to look out for:

1. Equipment

Before your first dive, our instructors will help you put on all the necessary diving gear, including a wetsuit, fins, mask, and regulator. It's important to feel comfortable and secure in your gear before diving into the water.

2. Breathing underwater

This may be your first time breathing underwater, but our instructors will make sure you're comfortable with the regulator before diving. Take deep breaths and stay calm – you'll be amazed at how easily you'll adapt to breathing underwater!

3. Body position

Maintaining good body position is crucial for a safe and enjoyable dive. Keep your fins pointed downward and your knees slightly bent to maintain neutral buoyancy. Our instructors will show you the proper body position and how to control your descent and ascent.

4. Marine life

The vibrant marine life that awaits you underwater is a sight to behold. You'll see colorful fish, coral formations, and other marine creatures that you've never seen before. Remember to maintain a safe distance and never touch or disturb the marine life.

5. Safety signals

Before diving, our instructors will go over the basic safety signals with you. These signals are used to communicate underwater and ensure everyone's safety. Make sure you understand and remember these signals. Read more about diving signals here.

At the end of the trip, you'll receive your PADI Open Water certification, which means you'll be certified to dive anywhere in the world! So come and join us for a fun-filled and educational adventure. Let's conquer our fear of the ocean and make lasting memories with fellow Somates!
