Being a Sotravel Host: Tips and Insights

Firstly, it’s not that serious! Secondly, spread good vibes.

Let’s break it down:

Pre-trip:

1) When someone new joins the telegram group, say hi and let them know the flights you or the group are taking

2) If you are planning to do some extra activities before, during or after the trip, send it as an open invite so others that are interested can join you!

During trip:

1) Be the first person at the hotel counter to help with check-in and the rooming situation

2) Organise a group dinner for the first day

3) If you have some experience in the activity, share some personal tips with the beginners before the activity day. For example, as a snowboarder, I would set up an hour with the group to share my tips on how to turn, stop, and fall safely. I would also share about the different type of mountain gradings (green, blue etc) and the different types of snow conditions (icy, powder etc)

4) Be the one (and encourage others) to openjio for meals, drinks, games etc! In our recent Wild Wild Surf trip, our participants hosted their own beer pong tournament. (Everyone pays $5 to enter and the winner gets the whole pot 😵)

5) Be friendly, fun and helpful! But of course, remember that you are not a tour guide. If they have any issues related to the accommodations or vendors you should kindly let them know to settle it directly with the external parties.
